My friend just bought a 99 c230 kompressor. It has buttons for a CD changer and a Tape. When you press either of the buttons, they say No CD or No Tape.
I heard that there is a cassette player behind a motorized face on the stereo. Is this standard, or did they make these things with just an AM/FM radio and no cassette?

Also, I put a CD changer in a 95 C220 for the guy, it was a USSPEC I think... Anyway, he wanted to know if it would be possible to put that CD changer in the 1999 C230. Is that possible, or does the 99 use fiber optics and the 95 use something different?

THanks,

-Dan

I am not sure where the cassette is, but on the newer C's it is behind the display of the headunit.

The 99 changer is fiber optic. The 95 is copper wire.

thanks a lot for your responce! I think the stereo in the 99 c230 doesnt have the cassette after all. it is just a radio... weird for mercedes, you would think something like that would come standard.

When you get into cassette mode, you will see an eject prompt come up on the LCD display. Press the button directly under it to pop the display down and reveal the cassette player.

Alright. That makes sense. But when I push the tape button, all it says is NO TAPE.
