Car: 2003 C230 Sedan, with stock radio
Problem: Want a line in for the iPod

I have tried the FM transmitter and tried a tape thing. I am not happy with the quality of sound that comes through that way.

I have read about Cryptnotic's modification:
http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24707&highlight=aux+tape

and viewed thread and pictures from:

I have also viewed sessions tutorial for removing the radio:

This sounds like a viable solution, my questions are have a lot more of you guys done this? Do you have any improvements to this that are not posted to yet?

Has anyone tried one of these with this solution:
Sik Imp
http://www.sik.com/imp.php
This could give a better quality sound since line out is from the dock

Belkin Auto Kit for iPod
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009KAPX/002-9569748-3888802?v=glance
This can be modified like this:

Im thinking that it would be cool if you could do the tape player to line out conversion and also supply power to the ipod. via the belkin modifcation mentioned above.

Also if you guys have done this where did you decide to have the line out come out? (glove compartment, ash tray, center console, etc)

Thanks

James

Well I decided to do cryptonics tape mod. It worked for me. I am happy but must share my moment of concern. I had everything put back together and connected my iPod through the Headphone Jack (Sik Imp is on order) and I heard ... NOTHING. Oh my god I wanted to cry, but then I remembered that I am gogint throught the shitty Headphone Jack, so I turned up the volume and music came on. I am very happy. Thanks guys late.
