fuel tank

i pulled back the carpet thats in the trunk against the rear seat in my 1993 400E and i saw what appeared to be another full sized fuel tank. what is this? is it the reserve tank, it looks very big to be a reserve but i dont know. thanks for your help.

That is the only fuel tank in your vehicle.

i dont see a fuel pump on it, and what is that plastic tank under the car for?

You may be seeing the vacuum system reserve tank in front of the fuel tank.

i dont know all i know is that theres a large plastic tank under the car and i assumed that was the fuel tank.

The gas tank is located between the rear seat and the trunk. I think you will also find a vacuum reserve tank under the hat shelf behind the rear seat. I don't think there is a "tank" under the rear of the car.

im not trying to argue im just trying to figure out what that tank is now that ive been told its not the fuel tank.

does this car use an inline fuel pump instead of an in tank pump? i was looking at a picute of the fuel pump and thats what it looks like to me.

Speaking of fuel tanks...does anyone know if the 500E tank will fit in a 400E?? I am interested in the extra range the larger tank would offer.
