Perforated Leather on C320 [Archive]

I have heard that the perforated leather on the C320 and others is actually something called clear coat leather (?) that consists of a vinyl layer on top of leather. As such, this product has different cleaning needs. This type of leather is only found on those seats without heaters and/or ventilators.

Does anyone have any info/facts to verify the above? Please let me know if this fact or fiction.

My car has the clear coated leather and it has seat heaters. I have used the Meguairs leather wipes with good results.
