I have an 02 C240

On the way home from work a few weeks ago......my dash turns red, and the car goes into limp home mode.
Alternator and batt is what is says. I call the service dept, and they say bring it in- it's under warranty and they fix it. Last week same thing- same warning lights and limp home mode....this time they have to tow it in. They fixed it after having it for 3 days- but today, the radio (Bose) does not work- it goes on after a while but it no longer recognizes the CD changer. They have the car again....

I will not hit the mileage limit for the warranty (we only have 40K on it), so they tell me the warranty expires in July of this year.

Have any of you guys had probs like this?

Haven't experienced that particular problem, but it sounds like a re-programming issue as the head won't recognise the CD. What was done to repair the car? Have you spoken with the service manager? If I take mine in for any dealer diagnosis/repairs and it isn't diagnosed/corrected the first time, I head for the manager. No satisfaction?.......general manager. Still none?..........owner. As a last resort, I'll contact MB. Seems to work for me. Good Luck.

The service advisor told me that the CD changer is just going to bhe replaced. Well- at least I get a new changer ...

Excellent! For some reason, the multiple changers seem to have a higher than normal failure rate, especially those that are trunk mounted. FYI MB warranties are mileage/month specific. Let's hope this is the last problem you'll encounter and can continue enjoying your MB.
