Hello,

I appreciate all the help this website has given me in the past. I tried to do a search on this topic and could not find it.

I recently changed my front break pads on my 2002 C230 when the Brake Lining Warning came up on the LCD. I called Merecedes and they said I need to take the car up to a my dealership to get the LCD warning reset.

I was also told by someone else that the warning should have gone away after you replaced the pads. Another thought was the sensor should be changed (even though it looked okay?).

Any help would be appreciated. If I need to take it to the dealership to get it reset, how much will it cost? Can I got to another brake place to get it reset at a lower cost?

Thanks for all the help,

Rick

All that needs to be done is good sensors need to be put in. The warning will then go away.

That brake pad warning will only come on when one of the brake sensor circuits gets shorted to ground. In a normal case, brake pads wear out to brake sensor, brake sensor then grounds itself to the brake rotor, light comes on. That's why sometimes the brake warning will only come one when you hit the brakes. If you have new pads on the car, then the only scenarios I can see would be, A: your rear pads are worn (but I don't think your car has rear sensors, but it might), B: sensor are misrouted, and grounding out by some other means, C: Some random short to ground somewhere in the system, or D: Moisture can many times cause a false light.

Hello All,

Thanks for all the help. It is much appreciated. It was the sensor. I changed it over the weekend and the warning went away.

Thank you much,

Rick
