Hi all,

Need your expertise on a power window for my W140. The rear window was rolled down but couldn't roll it back up. I opened the door panel and noticed one end of the cable (pulling side) wasloose but could'nt clip it back on. Are these units repairable or do I need to just change the whole assemble (motor is functioning OK). What's the trick here? Thanks.

Since you already are dugged into the door, your gonna need a window regulator. Usually they're not that expensive, and many of the dealers stock them, cause they commonly go bad. Just get one of those, some rivets (dealer also can supply), and a rivet gun with some basic tools and have at it! It's not too difficult. Just make sure everything's aligned when You tighten things up, and don't break the glass.

Can the regulater be bolted or does it have to be revited once uninstalled? Thanks

You must rivet it. No accomodations for bolting.

first check if the motor riser is still showing signs that it is still working if yes then try to pull up by hand the window thru the bottom (while the side panels are exposed, it will move a bit then your back on line with the window function, it was a defect in engineering. Nothing major to fix or pruchase, the lines will become loose when the windows are down, but if it is extremely loose then the wire pulling the windows have jump out of its rail, it will need require you to take the whole mechaniosm out fo the door and realign or fix.
