380sel rocks

i bought a 1980 380SEL about two years ago. as i am a poor young student, i cannot afford the insurance on my car, so i've yet to drive it except for bringing it home when i got it.
a few details on my baby: v8, auto, power locks/windows, newly replaced a/c, chrome around the entire vehicle, hazard sign in trunk, hood star intact, spare one-piece headlights in trunk (yellow old school foglamp ones on it now), exterior brownish-green(?) with paint very good, not winter driven, 120 000 miles/200 000 km, front seats have been patched, rear seat and rest of interior immaculate (brown/green/grey colour scheme), no cracks in vinyl dash, aftermarket 15" wheels w/ 15" spare, tinted windows, name brand (i forget which, pioneer or bose or something lol) tape deck and speaks, geez have i missed anything?
anyway, i want to know if you guys think i should a) try to sell it now at a profit without dropping any cash into safety etc.; b) blow most or all of my cash on safety, insurance, and all that to drive it; or c) sit on the car until i'm a 100k a year lawyer and fully restore it to brand new (my dad has restored jags and benzes for his rich boss and might do it if he's not too old by then).
on the one hand it's good condition and could fetch more than the 2000 canadian i paid for it without me doing anything; but also it likely won't take much to safety and it has another 250 000 km left in it give or take right? but then it also gains value as it ages and if i could wait and restore it to A1 then it would be worth a lot more than if i drove it into the ground in the meantime.
do i sell it now to gain liquid assets towards my student loans etc and go for a more "sensible" everyday driver, do i drop all my funds into driving the coolest first car ever, do i sit on it until i can afford to do it up right? what do you think, fellow mercedes lovers? i really love this car and i want to do it justice, but in the meantime i do need to drive too. oh the life of a confused university student on minimum wage! help me!
