Good afternoon- A local seller has a 1991 560SEL available for an asking price of $5490/obo. Car shows 89k miles, new Michelin tires, and a new state inspection. Interior is very clean, leather has no rips, body appears complete and paint is shiny. If I contact the seller and inspect the vehicle more thoroughly, what questions should I ask about typical 560 problem areas? Is there anything in particular I should note? Without knowing about the owner history or title history (assuming it's clean) does this seem like a fair price for a last model year 560?

You'll want to find a shop familiar w/ the W126/M117 series and bring it by for a PPI.
That aside, the big question is has the timing chain/rails/tensioner etc been done? If not, that's 1K as soon as you take posession.
Also @ that mileage front and rear suspension will be getting tired, accumulators on the rear, shocks/tierods/guide rod mounts, possibly bal joints up front.
Make sure the AC works, if it hasn't been converted Great..if it has Oh well.
Again, a PPI will be the best 100-150$ you can spend...don't bother bringing it to the dealer, they don't know these cars from a hole in the wall @ this point.
