Hello,
I have ML500 2003,
I need to activate Daytime running Lights.
I am not sure if it is just a setting, or i need to install a new component.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I believe it is a setting that can be activated by your dealership.

Confirmed, DRL's in ML500 is just a setting, dealer required an hour to do it.

Thank you, bocabenz

Try these steps :

Step 1

Mount the DRL kit to the underside of the dashboard using the drill and self-tapping screws. Find a location where it's easy to access the wiring, yet it's hidden from view.

Step 2

Run the black wire from the wiring harness on the DRL kit to a solid piece of metal under the dash, then cut it to length using the wire cutters.

Step 3

Run the yellow wire from the wiring harness on the DRL kit to the back of the headlight switch. Probe the wiring on the back of the switch using the test light. Turn on the switch to the running light position. When the test light turns on, you've found the right wire. Cut it, strip 1/2 inch from both sides of the wire using the wire strippers, and crimp those two wires together with the yellow wire from the wiring harness, using the blue butt connector and the wire crimpers.

Step 4

Run the white wire from the wiring harness on the DRL kit to the back of the headlight switch. Probe the wiring on the back of the switch using the test light. You're looking for the headlamp feed wire, which will activate the test light when the switch is turned on. When you find it, cut the wire, strip 1/2 inch from both sides of the wire using the wire strippers, and crimp those two wires together with the white wire from the wiring harness using the blue butt connector and the wire crimpers.

Step 5

Run the green wire from the wiring harness on the DRL kit to the underside of the steering column. Probe the wiring on the steering column using the test light. You're looking for a switch that comes on with the ignition, so cycle the key in the ignition from the "off" to "on" position. If the test light turns on with the key to "on" and "off" with the key off, then you've found an ignition wire. Cut the wire, strip 1/2 inch from both sides of the wire using the wire strippers, and crimp those two wires together with the green wire from the wiring harness using the blue butt connector and the wire crimpers.

Step 6

Run the red wire from the wiring harness on the DRL kit to a constant power source. This can also be found under the steering column. This time, the test light will activate instantly, and will stay on no matter what position the ignition is in. Cut the wire, strip 1/2 inch of wire from both sides of the wire using the wire strippers, and crimp those two wires together with the red wire from the wiring harness using the blue butt connector and the wire crimpers.

Step 7

Run the photo sensor included with the DRL kit to the top of the dashboard, hiding the wiring along the way. Make sure it's in a place where the sensor can be seen through the windshield. Then connect the wiring for the photosensor into the wiring harness on the DRL kit using the provided connectors.
