Last week I bought a 2004 E320 4MATIC Sports and this would be my 8th Mercedes. The reason I mention my ownership count is to point out that I know these vehicles from the C class to a S class.
I find it odd that when I put the car to 'D'. It stands there till I have to press the gas to move. Any car I have driven or owned, the vehicle rolls a little unless you are parked uphill. Gear shifting is ok, and also manual driving is not a problem. Except that I feel that it stands heavy.
I had the gearbox checked, and also the clutch plate checked as well. The dealership tell me that some vehicles are setup this way and this is somewhat bothering me. I feel that there could be something wrong some place and I might be looking at an expensive repair in the coming days.
The Mercedes dealer tells me that I should drive another similar car if it worries me, but they do not have a 2004 E320 4MATIC Sport model except a same year E320 without the 4MATIC, and obviously this one moves once put in gear and the foot is placed off the brake pedal. (just like I expect my car to behave)
This issue is giving me a 'buyers remorse' as well. Could some expert give me their thoughts if this is normal for a 2004 E320 4MATIC? If not, what could be the reason.
Thanks.
