Hi, my name is Rich Truesdell and I am an automotive editor and photographer. If you subscribe to Mercedes Enthusiast you may have already seen my story on the Red Barron, 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman that appears in the February 2010 issue of Mercedes Enthusiast, which should start appearing on US news stands like Barnes and Noble in a week or two (the January issue is currently posted).

I'm working on another project, on the one-off Binz-bodied 300 C station wagon that will go up for auction at the Gooding & Company Amelia Island event next month. I've posted a blog on this unique car on my website, Automotive Traveler (http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/1502) which includes a half-dozen high-res images like this one.

I'm hoping that members here can tell me more about this car, its history and the history of the Binz coachbuilders. If you can add something beyond what I've already written, please drop me a direct E-mail (richt@automotivetraveler.com).

Thanks,

Rich Truesdell

Apart from the lower roof, it looks a bit like one of the hearse's used in 50/60's Germany.

The wooden interior of that car was simply beautiful. The car looks more spacious and very comfortable. Pleased by seeing great historic information.
