Yes I know, it's only Spring. However, as C7 package comes with Summer tires, I'm seeking opinions. For Winter specific tires (16" for the snow) would you buy a set of custom wheels or just go with plain steel rims? Thanks for the input!

I would just go with some steelies. You can usually find a nice set of older Mercedes rims on ebay or buy a set of those fake Brabus/AMG/Carlson ones. I mean hey, for a couple hundred you dont have much to lose. if they last 5 years then they were worth it I will post some links in a bit.
Ok here are some they are all on ebay:

just a few to get them started
I just couldn't bear putting steel wheels on the car so I bought these;http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/wheelrack/wheel_images/Mille_Miglia/MM11-2.G.dw.gif

Hi Lynn,
The Mille Miglia MM 11-2 wheels were the exact ones I was considering for winter use. How do you like them on your vehicle? Great minds think alike!
I was thinking about something like http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/images/atitalia/swap/at_alp_bs_ci3_s.jpg
Not for winter, but for summer use ;)

Wellll.........they've never actually been on the car. I bought them from Tirerack in early December, and the weather never got bad enough to put them on. There was one ice storm, but I just took the day off and stayed home. They may be on the car briefly in the next month when I pull the C7's for a good cleaning and waxing.

Is it possible to go down one size? I was considering putting 195/65/15, just for the winter, and stay on the Evolution wheels for summer.
Yes, it is possible to use those. They are the same diameter as you stock wheels and tires. Please see this thread at mbworld: http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19752&perpage=10&highlight=195/65&pagenumber=2
