My grandfather is the owner of a 1978 240 Diesel, and needs a driver's manual. I've done some research online, and I haven't had any luck. Does anybody know where I can find an online/downloadable manual? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi RadThad,
Welcome to Benzforum. I am not aware of any Driver/Owners manual that is available by download, but a similar question came up recently regarding where to obtain a Owners Manual and this is the response posted by AJCrowe:
"You might want to give Mercedes-Benz USA a call and purchase a owners manual. The publications department can mail you a manual for your vehicle. There is a charge but it is worth it to have the manual."
Also, if you are looking for a repair manual, Chilton and Haynes both make a pretty good repair manual at a reasonable price.
Again, welcome to the forum.

If you are a member of MBCA, you may want to contact them. If it is out of print, MB dealers may not be able to help you. Often MBCA will get old literature and make it available for requests like yours. Their address is: http://www.mbca.org. They also have a "Parts, Literature, etc. for Sale" section in their classified ads (free posts to members).
Good luck!

I get all of my mercedes stuff off of Ebay. I've gotten great deals on all sorts of mercedes stuff and never had any problems. I got the Manual for my 190 on Ebay. It's worth a look, you'd be surprised what some people sell there.

Dr. Richard Easley has some good information related to your request on his MB-FAQ page. Here's a link:
