Hi, I'm a new user here, but have been in Freds TDIclub.com for quite a while now.
I found a 1978 300D I am considering buying for US$500, but it needs an engine. The story is: Parents bought it for their kid but never told him to check the oil. Car has about 180K miles.
I would be interested in whether this seems like a reasonable deal, and if so, humbly request your advice about most any options for getting the car on the road: rebuilt, used+low miles, new, etc. as well as installation advice.
