unexplained banging underneath...not shocks,

tie rods, springs, ball joints,etc. all have checked out ok? any ideas? 1996 E300D. My thought...possible loose exhaust pipe hitting underneath near the motor? this sound happens with the slightest of bumps.

Exhaust was my first thought.
