oil in over flow

I hesitate to ask but any other reason besides a blown head gasket or cracked block to have black oil in my radiator overflow tank. 86 SDL my weakest car in the lot.

The most likely problem is a crack in the aluminum head. The early OM603 engines have a history of cracking heads. There were several revisions. I can get you the P/N's if you want to verify what you have.

Local shop is looiking at a replacement for the head. I am in the mood to replace the whole engine; any suggetsions as to where I can get a new/rebuild at a reasonable price?
