I recently purchased a '98 E300 TD. Upon first try, the CD player didn't work, and I got a "CD Error" message. I was advised by the dealer to remove the fuse, wait 15 minutes, recode the radio, and try the CD again. I did all this, and now I get the message "No CD," even though there are correctly-installed CDs in the magazine.

Ideas?

I have checked the connection to the player.

Any way to tell whether the problem is with the player or the head unit (short of trying another player, to which I don't have access)?

Anyone replaced the head unit with another MB that has a single-play CD built into the head unit?
