I have a 2003 c230k and want to add an in-dash dvd receiver/monitor. I was told that in order to do this I would have to replace everything in my car, including the speakers and the cd changer. I was also told that i could use an RF modulator to broadcast the sound through my current receiver. In both cases I would need to buy a special mounting kit. Does anyone know if both the stock receiver and the dvd receiver/monitor will fit in mounting kit, and if so where could I purchase one. Also, I would like to know if anyone else has done something similar. Would appreciate some pictures also. Thanks
The stock headunit is a non-standard size and shape. It might be possible to mount a DVD player/receiver beneath it, if you are a good fabricator. There is no mountiing kit for both a stock headunit and another item. I don't see any reason why an FM modulator cannot be used for the audio.
You would get the best results by completely removing the stock stereo.

Although the quality isn't bad, the problem with the FM modulator is that it down-converts the digital signal to an analog signal.

FM modulators don't contain DAC's, but that has to be done somewhere. You can't hear a digital signal. The DAC is most likely in the DVD player.
