I have a 98' ML320 and every two year I need to have the cabin air filter replaced. I make a low humming noise when the fan is turned on and gets louder the higher the fan speed. I would like to know if this is something that I can replace myself?

the cabin filter is easy to change. it is located underneath the passenger side dash panel. drop the underdash panel and you'll see a rectangular piece of plastic with a clip or two holding it on. slide the clips and pull the cover off; the filters should drop out. make sure when reinstalling the cover that it seals all the way. you will get a whistling noise from you climate control system if there is a gap. as for the noise your experiencing, i don't think the filter would have much to do with that. you may need a new blower motor/resistor or both. those are located right next to that cabin filter under the passenger side dash panel.

I need to change the cabin air filter on my ml320 2008. Anyone knows how to do it. I can see it from an access under the hood but I don't know how to pull it off. Anyone can help?

The filter is accessed behind the glove box, here are the instructions;
