Paint Chip

I often travel between Montreal and Toronto (500KM one way). Although I did install 3M Stone Guard to my hood (2004 CLK-320 coupe), I still noticed a few stone chips on my hood.

After I applied the touch-up paint, natually I can still see the spots. Now, should I keep applying the touch-up paint or just leave it and paint over the hood every 2-3 years?

Furthermore, I noticed that some body shops use matches to apply the touch-up paint. They told me that this is easier than the brush.

Tip of a match, yes, better than brush.
