I saw these demo'd at the C-Spot party in Southern California several months ago and was wondering if they are available for installation by the Dealer.
I have a C32 AMG w/ command and was thinking about adding some sort of satellite radio capability. I liked how the satellite radio was integrated on those cars and would want that as opposed to a standalone unit.
Any information or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it depends on the year of your C32. i dont believe it can be retrofitted onto a COMMAND that doesn't have a "SAT" button onit. from my understanding it is E's, S's (CL's), and SL's that can get satellite radio. all of these have to be '03 or above.
PHAEDRUS242, I've heard that there may be a firmware update for existing COMAND's to have the blank button (TV button in Europe) to be set for Sirius. The Sirius receiver is supposed to cost about $800 from the dealer, not including installation.

haven't heard that yet, but there is a lot that pops up on us. i'll speak with some sales folk today to see if there is any news my side of the business has not been privy to. $800.00 is right on for the '03's as per the most current information.

Thanks for the information. I do have the blank button on the command/radio unit on my 2002 C32 and if there's a way to retrofit that would be great. I was thinking it would be a removal of the existing and replacement with something else, but from the way you both are talking, it sounds like just an additional module?
If anyone comes up with additional information, please let me know. Thanks!
The Sirius receiver is a separate box.

new update from parts department....
the satellite radio project has again been delayed (we are telling people a year and just hoping it comes in before that). it doesn't help that every single car at the auto shows has it plastered all over them. the official word (for now) is that it is an '04 and up option only, although it is compatible with certain '03's (some S classes is what i've heard). as soon as i start getting promo stuff/parts in i will let everyone know.

I had spoken with MB directly 10 days ago and they say that everything is in except for the antennas. Its good to wait for a good antenna for reception reasons and also the way they look. 1st year ('02) Caddys had disgusting upside down pistol grips on their roofs for a satellite antenna...now look at the nice profile the GM product has as a satellite antenna. There's no reason for the satellite kit to not be installed in the '03 E class. The only missing stuff is the receiver & antenna & connection to the head, and that stuff is already in the country. Zip, Zip Zip. It can core a apple.
