Hi to everyone out there! I'm new to this forum stuff, please forgive me for any mistakes or incorrect protocol.

My problem is my '95 C230 Kompressor (UK spec) is feeling rather tired. When in third, fourth or fifth gears and accelerating from under 3000rpm (approx) the car seems very lethargic. Throttle response is slow and it takes an age to get up to speed. At 3000rpm a 'rush' kicks in and normal acceleration etc. is resumed (Kind of like turbo lag).

Has anyone out there got any idea what might be happening?
(Its £80gbp (around $150)per hour labour in my local Benz garage over here in the UK so any help would be appreciated.

I have noticed from playing in the past(with bikes), that running lean tends to drop off your low end torque. if this is a new problem try cleaning your injectors.
if this is an on going problem try kleemann or renntech

Welcome to the board.

I believe you car has a clutch of the compressor. It might be the problem. Also the switch which engages the clutch could be the problem. Or it could be I don't know what I'm talking about. Good Luck with fixing the problem.

Thanks for the ideas. I tried injector cleaner from valvoline (the type you add to fuel in the gas tank) but this didnt make any difference. Would you recommend taking the injectors out and getting them on a flow bench?

R.E. 'clutch' ; is this clutch you mention some kind of device to stop the 'charger boosting too early? nI'll look into it some more.

The car has a Remus Exhaust system and K&N panel filter. The company who sold them said the car's ECU would alter the mixture to accomodate these without problems. Is there any truth in this? I fitted the parts a day or two after buying the car and dint notice the fault until a week 0or so later.

The purpose of the clutch on the supercharge is to shut it down when it is not need. This reduces its parasitic drag on the engine thereby increasing fuel economy while reducing wear on the supercharge. MB stopped using clutches on superchargers in 2000 and now uses a bypass valve to accomplish the same things.
