Hi all, I'm a new Benz owner and new to this board.
Having recently purchased a very clean '98 C230, I have a couple of questions (so far), that I need help with.
The lights in the A/C control panel are all out. I beleive they are fed by one bulb via fiber optic. How do I access this bulb?
The clock in the instrument cluster has a similar trouble, it's only half lit. But works fine. :?
Thank you all in advance

just pull the ACC unit out of the dash- the MB radio keys should do the trick and you can access the bulbs in the unit quite easily from there. even if you had that taken care of by your dealer, it's an easy job and you shouldn't get charged more than .5 hrs labor. the IC bulbs are the same way, just pull the cluster and you'll see all the little bulbs. it is helpful to change all the bulbs when you have the cluster out, so you don't have to keep pulling it every time something burns out. you should be able to remove the cluster without taking the wheel off, given a bit of ingenuity. if you have a non adjustable wheel, you need to remove the airbag screws from behind the wheel and then the one large allen head nut from the center of the wheel. mark your spot and pull the wheel. the whole process should take less than an hour.

Thanks, but I don't follow you. :(
How do I remove the facia panel that covers both the radio and the a/c controller. How do the radio buttons come into play?
And to "pull" the dash out; where would I pry it lose. There are no visible screws to undo or grab handles.
(my apologies for being a pain)

The radio keys are not the buttons on the radio. They are the tools used to remove the radio and, apparently, the a/c controls. You can buy them at the dealer. The aren't expensive from what I've heard.

"I see." said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw.
I'm off to the dealer this weekend with more on my list !!
Thank you both.

That is a smart move. I just learned a lesson of "if you can't figure it out..." My bulbs went out and tried doing myself. After awhile, I became quite mad at trying and hit the display mode and broke it. Needless, I had to order a NEW display unit and have instealed. It cost quite a bit more, but the bulbs work now. My fist also hurts.
