I've seen that some of you are actual MB service tech's. I'm wondering if you can supply a COMPLETE list of the items that will turn on the CHECK ENGINE light. I just got mine back from the local dealer having spent $530 to replace the MAF. If I could have found out the fault code, I could have replaced the part for $160 and I understand the light would have reset itself in about 200 miles after it got used to the new MAF. So what I'm really looking for is alist of the fault codes ( and what they mean ) that activate the CHECK ENGINE light so I can set about fixing future problems myself.
Last December the CHECK ENGINE light came on and due to me fussing with the car, the battery got low and a whole bunch of fault codes went off (so says the dealer ) and even with the battery fully charged up, the car would not even attempt to start. I ended up towing it to the dealer ( never had ANY car towed in my life ), and at 1st THEY did not even know what the problem was. So living in Nevada I asked them what I should do if this should happen 200 miles away in the central part of the state. I was told to pay the $1200 and have it towed to the dealership. NOW THAT"S RELIABLITY & GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE all in one sack!
