RPM gauge inoperative...(W124/'95 E300D)

The RPM gauge is currently dead. This first popped up after I replaced the alternator. The A/C is also inoperative (not sure if it's related). I've checked the fused in the engine bay. What would cause the RPM gauge to just stop working (all other gauges work properly)?

The A/C compressor has been replaced multiple times. It's been $hit since the car was new, so the A/C being dead may be unrelated to the other electrical/whatever issue (the RPM gauge).

You might want to check your OVP relay, located behind the battery on this car. It's a common source of electrical gremlins in the 124 cars.

Thank you. I'll look into that.

Edit: Zeitgeist...you were right. I pulled the OVP relay and one of the fuses was blown. I replaced the fuse, started the car up, and it was good as new.
