Active Reverse (Warning) Signal
I'm surprised that with all the new technology available in the next generation S-class, MB still don't see it fit to introduce an active reverse signal which would enable the driver to warn his intention to stop-and-reverse further ahead in good time by manually activating a switch causing the reverse (warning) lights to blink while the vehicle is still in forward motion (or stationary in any gear other than reverse including P/N).
Once reverse gear is engaged after stopping, the reverse lights become steady indicating that the vehicle is reversing: flashing reverse (warning) lights = I'm going to reverse; steady reverse lights = I'm reversing.
This concept has been in the public domain for more than 10 years now, sufficient time to have had it tested, the multitude of legal issues surrounding it addressed and developed but for some inexplicable reason it seems, may never see the (flashing reverse) light of day!
