Rear drivers side door won't lock

I can't lock the door using the button on the center console, remote or manually. It's seems really sticky and when I try to pull it up or push it down to lock, it barely moves.

I want to remove the door panel to inspect it but am a little worried about the airbag. Will disconnecting the battery for 30min insure the airbag will be safe?

Simply disconnect the negative side of the battery and leave it disconnected whilst working on the door.

I finally took it a part and found that the lock cable(whatever it is called) was damaged, this making it unable to lock or unlock manually. I repaired the cable and I can now lock and unlock manually. It still will not move using the lock/unlock button on the center console. When I push the button, all the other doors will lock, then unlock, then lock again. Is this a sign of some sort telling me something is wrong or is this movement when pushing the button normal. FYI, when I push the button to unlock, it only moves once.

If anyone has had similar experience or know what the problem might be, please let me know.
