slow gear shifts
Hello everyone. I'm first timer here but looks like a good informative forum. Quick question. I have a '99 sl500 that does not like to change gears (automatic) when it's colc (under 25 degrees) When I first start out, it will not shift up from 1st until it gets well warmed up. It's been that way ever since I bought the car 3 years ago and I don't drive in the winter much (first time out today since Nov) Anybody else have this problem? Is it normal or is there some giant repair bill lurking? It only does this when it's cold. One mechanic told me it's normal because of the emission system, does that make sense? Thanks for any help!
