'97 C230 Sedan Cabin Filter

I have been using the dealer for most big services, until recently. They were going to charge over $700 US to change the mass air meter (MAF to most US car owners). The part is only $325 US, and it takes less than 15 minutes to change... anyway, I digress.

I am also curious to know the location etc of the cabin air filter. The filter is very cheap, and it can not be THAT hard since the installed price is $110.

Any tips on location etc would be wonderful... I am starting to do work on it myself.

Tired of getting ripped off...

The cabin air filter is located beneath the battery cover for W203 cars.

My car is...

the older C202 chassis model. I know the dust filter is under the passenger side dash. Is there one in the engine compartment as well?

Thanks.
Doug.

Found the answer...

Look above the passengers legs under the dash. There are three screws there, and also remove the black vent with it's screw on the center part of the car under the dash. Then the filter can be taken out. Be careful, mine was quite dirty. If I do it again, when I do, i will put a towel down to prevent from having to clean the floor mat...

Worked great and took about 15mins to do.

Saves $1000 this weekend replacing routine items myself. Cabin filter, air filter, O2 sensor, and Air Mass Sensor... Thanks everyone! Great forum!
