1965 Mercedes 190Dc?

I have a 190Dc with the 4 cyl. I need to know how good of a deisel it is as i am using the car in a science project. I will be borrowing the motor to run a generator head and see how efficient the combo will be. I dont know the hp rating and or the cruising speed rpm of the motor. any help would be great for our class.

Firstly AC generator sets usually run at 1500rpm. and 3000rpm. so whatever generator set you are using it will be in the range of a 190D engine.

I wouldn't be too worried about the reliability of the 190D engine as they are virtually bulletproof. Just keep it cool and well ventilated and the exhaust gases piped well away from the air filter/s.

I'm interested as to how you are intending to couple up the generator set to the engine?

I believe those engines were around 50hp. The earlier 180D engines were used for years by long-haul trucks to run their reefer units.
