Vacuum Switchover Valves

I recently replaced the B2 piston in my 83 300SD. My next project is getting the vacuum system fixed up.

What Iím wondering is: Are the vacuum control valves located on top of the valve cover used ONLY for the ERG? After looking at the vacuum diagram i came to that conclusion, but I could be wrong.

Both of my valves need to be replaced, but if they only are used for the ERG i dont think i will replace them, because i see allot of people disabling their ERG. If i just block the vacuum from the supply to the valves can they just sit there and do nothing, or will this cause me other problems?

Any advice would be appreciated
