Malfunction Messages

Hello,

I am new to the group. I just bought a C320 wagon w/39K miles on Friday. I loved it until today, when I was suprised to receive a malfunction message stating "Engine Oil Level, Reduce Oil Level." Obviously I am going to contact the dealer and have them check this out. The owner's manual describes this as a serious matter.

Has anyone out there received this message before? If so, what actions did you take? Is this serious, etc...? Any feedback would be appreciated as this is my first Benz and I am getting off to a questionable start.

Thanks,
Al

engine oil level at maximum. never put in too much oil for it will damage engine mechanicals. have you checked the dipstick for correct level? if its okay. then its the oil level sensor. 8.5 liters is enough but always base the measurement using the dipstick. okay?
