1984 500SEC engine stalls

I am experiencing occasional engine stalling which can occur at high speeds or at full stop. When cold the engine normally starts immediately with no rough starts. In the past 6 months I have had the idle control unit replaced and the ignition control unit. Both have not helped the problem, although they did fix other problems, high idle and would not start, but they have not resolved the intermitent stalling. I thought it might be the fuel pump relay, but my mechanic said that was fine.

Any ideas would be appreciated, I am getting realy frustrated, this car is in fantastic condition otherwise only has 97,000 KM

Thanks for the reply, we looked at the fuel pump relay but it seems okay. We think it was a faulty ignition control unit that was replaced last year with a rebuilt one. We replaced it with a new unit last week and so far it seems to have resolved the problem.
