Airbag deployment on 2004 clk

Does anyone have information about what speed are the airbags supose to deploy on a '04 CLK. I had an feder bender in a parkink lot and to my surprise both of the frontal bags deployed (my wife was sitting on the passenger seat)

There is no set speed at which the airbags deploy. It's a combination of factors (speed, angle of impact, force of impact etc etc etc) I'm not sure if anyone would have all of the info you would need. they are also two stage airbags, with a small impact and large impact setting, so that the airbags can react to the type of accident and deploy slowly for fender benders or quickly for major accidents.

The main criteria is the level of lateral decelleration. If the airbag module determines that a certain g-force is reached, it will blow the bags. If you don't have your seatbelt on, it deploys them at a quicker rate to prevent you from going through the windshield.
