98 SLK instrument cluster blown

After jump starting , the instrument cluster is fried, according to the dealer its $1350 for new and $120 to tell me . I found a repair shop in VA for $350. Need to remove cluster and have no clue, did buy tool kit from dealer.

If by "tool kit" you mean the two hook tools. You won't need them to replace your cluster. You'll have to remove the instrument panel facing to remove the cluster, which is kinda a process in it's own. I've only done a couple of them, so I'm not totally positive on which screws to remove, and what exactly to remove to pull it apart.
