2006 Mercedes Benz E350

I was looking into finally selling my 1997 E320 for a newer Mercedes, but wanted some information first. I wanted to know an estimated MPG rating from normal everyday users. I am very concerned about this as my W210 isnt the best on gas (EST 13.6 MPG). I am not sure if I just drive very aggressive or if the car is just not being nice to me anymore lol. Anyways besides MPG what else should i know about this car? Anything to look out for? Thank you in advance

You do not mention which newer model of Benz you wish to buy, are you looking for a newer 210? We cannot discuss mpg until we know which model. And petrol or Diesel?

I was looking into getting a 2006 E350. I like gasoline/petrol engines better but with the way gas burns I'm almost tempted to get the E320 CDI

OK well let me save you a lot of hearache and money here, all the 272 engines (Petrol engines) for 2006 have the dreaded balance shaft problem and the repair cost is around USD 4000 so avoid a 350 from this year.

The E320 CDI is a much better bet.

Oh really? Hmm that's a turn off. I was really looking into a petrol engine because it just seems sportier to me. So if the 06 has these problems, what year/model doesn't have this issue?

Approx mid 07 onwards are free of the problem, but if you intend to buy one then let me have the vin # first and I will check to make sure it is not a problem engine.

Alright thanks for the info! So what about fuel economy? Would this be considered an economical car or should I just stop and get a diesel?

Average MPG should be 25 but does depend on many factors not least of which is how heavy your right foot is

Just avoid using the kick down too much and you should get good MPG.
