1999 C230K Ride Height

I recently put 17" AMG wheels on my C230K. They look good, however, the car could look much better if the front end was an inch lower so it showed less fenderwell. Does anybody have any experience in lowering the front suspension? What all is entailed - changing spacers / bushings, or springs, or..? Or is this something just better left alone?

I'm not sure about the W202, but the W203 has several ways to go, so I bet there are several options for the W202.

It's possible the shock towers have spacers at the top, as you mentioned.
If spacers are there, try removing them.

ALSO - remember that lowering the front suspension may create a Bump-Steer effect. The steering gear and tie rods are supposed to be at the same level as the centerline of the front wheels. Sometimes this can be resolved by raising the steering rack with a 'bump steer kit'
