So I lent my '03 ML350 to my girlfriend (see "Rear Hatch Latch post") and the key broke...... the actual metal portion used in the ignition is in two pieces.

So I ask of you knowledgable ones...

1) how much is a new key?
2) can the key be replaced w/o replacing the entire FOB?
3) how do I go about replacing the key?
4) is this something that has to be ordered, or can my local MB dealership handle this?
5) are there any other easy/cheap options that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

The entire key has to be replaced. They're cut according to the VIN. You can only get them from the dealer. They'll have to be ordered (once again, by VIN). And you need proof of ownership with photo ID when you order it. For an ML, I think your looking in the $150-200 range.
