A/C is unpredictable for my ML. Sometimes it's freezing then warm air without touching it! something is stopping the compressor but can't figure out what it is. Sometimes it works most of the days and on some days it'll blow warm air most of the day. First, took it to dealer and they updated the software on AC Control, no difference. The second visit to the dealer, they made sure that it's properly charged with R134. Now 3rd time, at dealer again, they told me he couldn't duplicate the problem... I just can't believe that they can't find the problem. Any ideas? please help!

Intermittent faults are always the hardest to find. It does sound like a control problem such as a temperature sensor. Have you checked that the relevant plugs and sockets are all pushed home securely?

yes, this has been checked.
I remember when the dealer put it on the scanner, the following fault code was : "9006 AC componenet A9 (Compressor) has a short circuit".
Any idea where to find the list of error codes for W164 (Error code 9006) to check the description and explanation. this code is generated everytime the compressor fails to start.

thanks

The fault code is a general OBD2 code.

As you can see by the attached diagram, there is a lot to check.

It may be worth asking at an AC specialist garage, they may be able to advise more than the MB dealer.

A/C compressor intermittent

Check that the battery cables are tight on the battery posts. I've seen this several times and it drives techs crazy. If you have gotten a battery replaced make certain the extra hot wire is reconnected and tight. It only powers certain accessories and the compressor is one. Good luck.
