Question 1987 260E - gas smell/use + lack of acceleration

we have a 87 260E and have recently had problems with a slight gas smell in the cabin, but only before we start the engine. there is also a lack of acceleration and sometimes the car will barely start moving. the gas consumption is also extremely high.

the car still starts fine and there haven't been any problems with stalling. i checked the air filter, which was clean, and fuel pumps, which don't seem to have any visible leaks.

any help is appreciated.

hi. that problem also happened to me. maybe you should check your fuel filter, fuel gobernor and your fuel accumulator. if its still ok i think the prob is from your fuel distributor. doea a black smoke come out of your exhaust when you floor it?
