Central locking - leaks

Hello everyone,

The central locking air pump under the rear seat is burned out. I know this must have been caused by a leak in the system. I bought a working used one, but I need to know how to check and locate leaks in the system without burning out the unit i just bought. Any ideas on where I most likely may find a leak and how to check for it?

Thanks in advance

The best and most precise way to diagnose this would be to get a copy of the vacuum diagrams and a hand held vacuum pump and start seeing what holds vacuum and which components you can acctuate with it. Having the diagrams will make the job much easier, The process is pretty much the same as checking for a short with a multimeter.
