slk cabin noise

Hi
I recently bought a 2011 Slk 250.I hadn't tried one before this purchase so didn't know what to expect,I previously had a 2005 clk which I really like but was time for a change. My question is, how noisy is the cockpit area in these cars? The engine note in this one is quite loud ,sounding like theres no sound proofing to deaden the sound of the diesel. My clk was completely different and very quiet .
I would appreciate anyones view on this.
Thanks in anticipation.Luffy

Diesel engines do tend to be noisier than petrol engines, but Mercedes usually do a good job with sound insulation.
Check just in case there is any damage or the original insulation has been replaced with something inferior.
If there's room you can always add more padding.

What grade engine oil are you running? MB diesels can sound loud from the cabin if too high viscosity has been used. R172 SLK 250 should run on 0w30. Say if 0w40 or 10w40 was used, engine would sound louder.

Another thing I've noticed is when starting from cols you can hear the oil pressure come up, this could also be oil type orientated?
