Continental "R" and "ZR" model - what's the difference?

2014 E63 S (wagon) came with ContiSportContact 285/30 ZR 19 on the rear. With 3000 miles on the car I got a flat that required a new tire. Dealer installed 285/30 "R" 19 and not the "ZR" to match the other 3 tires. I asked why not the ZR and they had multiple lame excuses, including that they could not find the tire. The Continental website lists both tires and TireRack sells the ZR (for about $250 less than the dealer charges...

I am confident that my dealer is not being honest about the tire and am curious if anyone has any info about the ZR vs the R.

Thanks for any help
