Your CL 500 has a vacuum system built into the door lock activating unit.
I've heard of people repairing the vacuum diaphragm but it is rarely successful.

I think you'll have to bite on the bullet and buy a new lock activating mechanism, which I also understand, are not cheap.

update: resetting f62 fixed it.
It's so satisfying when potentially big problems turn out to be something simple.

Well done for your perseverance, and finding the fault without dealer intervention.

alright RedLiner...worked 'til today, when I heard what I thought was my windows shattering. NOW, I hear the air escaping...so, how hard is this thing to replace?

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis, it's a real bummer if the vacuum part of the actuator has gone AWOL.

Obviously I'm not sure of your mechanical DIY skills, however it will involve removing the interior door panel and maybe other items to access the door lock mechanism.
Once removed, inspect the vacuum unit for leaks (cracks, splits etc.)
You may be able to repair this with a hot glue gun, if not double check on that $90 eBay P/N I mentioned in an earlier post, and just replace it.

If your DIY skills aren't up to the above, it will mean a trip to your MB dealer, or to competent independent mechanic.
