i searched around this forum already, but couldn't find too much info on the 2.2L 190d's. i will be taking a look at an 84 and was curious mainly about reliability. diesel is fairly new to me, but i know a good deal about gas cars; i have done plenty motorswaps and turbo kits from scratch. anyways, any input is greatly appreciated. you guys have a good forum going here. thanks. -Ashish

I guess that nobody here has any direct experience with the 190d, so I'll give it a stab. The 190d, I believe, has the same OM602 motor that is in my '93 benz, though most 190's were non-turbo. The 201 (190e,d)chassis, in fact was the basis for the the larger 124 (300e,d) chassis, and share many components. That said, it should be a reliable car with many parts readily available.

One problem with the model, however, is that they often cost more to repair than the value of the car. If you are a godd DIY, this should not be a concern.
