Hi All. I am a new owner of a ‘71 360SL. I want to do somewhat of a restoration to the car but first I want to get everything working. The dash lights do not work and I found that the rheostat is broken. I jumpered from the pin on the back of the instrument cluster to the wires that go to each side and the light work. So… I am looking for a rheostat??

Also - the clock does not work. I removed it and saw the white cover has a burn hole through it. Inside it appears there is a fusible link of some kind that is blown. I tried to jumper the link and connect 12 volts to the clock but it’s a no go. Does anyone know where I can get a clock or send for repairs?

Thanks!!

I’m not at all familiar with that year of SL, but would suggest calling the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Center for guidance on finding these items. Also check eBay it is often a valuable source for pre-owned parts for my more modern ‘97 SL500.
