1983 300D Turbo Diesel

Hello. I need assistance with ac controls. I think it may need to be charged because I drove it around a little last summer before I purchased it and it worked. The user manual I have is for a newer model. I have push buttons and a dial. The manual shows knobs. Any help would be appreciated
