The gauges stopped working on our 1990 420sel. There is also a humming noise coming from under the dash.
NOT working is the speedometer, brake lights and all the gauges.
The turn signals DO work as do the headlights and tail lights.
Any ideas?

I would start by checking fuses, I think #11 is for the gauges on your SEL.
If you have fuses with the aluminium contacts, change them for copper.
You could also check for loose contacts especially ground cables.
