This C280 has a V6 motor. It’s pretty much 26 years old now the issues I’m having is at startup you put the key into the ignition push the ignition forward. There are times where it will not engage. No start. No nothing pull the key back out turn the key over. Wait a few minutes put the key back in then it may start like normal not sure what that issue is hopefully someone does and can give me some tips on how to repair that

1998C 280 Mercedes having issues with starting at times when you put the key into the ignition, it doesn’t respond no crank no nothing. Take the key back out. Wait a few minutes. Turn the key over put it back in. Maybe it’ll start and then I’m able to drive off not sure exactly what the issue is. Don’t wanna throw parts at it. I’m not sure what the problem Needs some answers on what exactly could be causing the key not to engage the starter and start the motor like normal.
Battery, starter, starter cables, ignition switch, worn key, etc. What troubleshooting has been done so far?
